january 2014 favourites.

WOW! Is it really February already? This first month of 2014 has flown and it's been a bit of a strange one. For the first three to four weeks I was constantly revising and hunched over my notes. I hardly did anything apart from go to the gym and lets say it was a pretty grim time. However, over the last week I've certainly made up for my lack of socialisation with the outside world. I saw Duke Dumont in Cardiff for my birthday last Friday as well as going out with my house mates on Tuesday and some course mates last night. It's safe to say I am absolutely exhausted and all this partying is causing havoc on my skin :( I have two nights out coming up next week and then I'm back to detoxing (unless my friends drag me out of course!).

The one thing I do love about going out though is experimenting with my make-up, so in standard beauty blogger fashion I thought I would show you my favourite items of the month...

1. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation.

This foundation is amazing! It covers everything which is especially good as my skin has broken out so badly recently after my exams and post-exam celebrations. It also lasts all day and night which is my favourite thing about it - you can apply it in the morning and it won't budge all day and similarly if you apply it before a night out you will go home with your make-up completely intact. It also doesn't cause an oily shine which is my pet hate when it comes to choosing a foundation. All in all this is the perfect foundation for me, but it does need a really good cleanser to remove.

2. Illamasqua Powder Foundation.

After applying my Estee Lauder Foundation I buff this powder over the top to create an even finish. It's also slightly darker than my foundation to give a darker finish as I like to have a bit of colour on my cheeks an it's brilliant. It looks great teamed with the foundation and gives a really natural, flawless finish - the perfect base before going wild with contouring and dark eyeshadows! You can buy this powder here for just £24.00,and it will last for aaaages.

3. Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette.

I absolutely adore this palette. I've used it every day since I had it for Christmas and I love the shades. The glittery golds and deep browns allow you to create such amazing looks for your eyes, whether it's natural for the day time or you're glamming up for a night out. I really want to get my hands on the Naked 3 now!

4. Real Techniques Face Brushes.

These are amazing! I have used them daily since I bought them and honestly don't know how I coped without them before. They make your face look fabulous after using it and apply your make-up evenly and covers every area. I use the foundation brush (it needs a good clean haha!) to apply my Double Wear foundation, followed by the buffing brush to buff my face with my Illamasqua Powder and finally the contour brush to contour my face with my Sleek Make-Up Palette.

5. Avon Lipsticks.

I've been really impressed with my Avon cosmetics this month which I received for Christmas. I have used their Morroccan Oil products before and loved them, and got this gorgeous red lipstick for Christmas. It goes on beautifully and doesn't leave your lips feeling dry and it lasts so well. The colour is vibrant and this doesn't fade throughout the night. It's a brilliant buy!

What are your January favourites this month? Please let me know if you've done a post so I can check it out!

  2. I really like Double Wear-it was full coverage and matte but not too matte if that makes sense? Am going away on a business trip tomorrow and have just dug out my Naked 2 palette to take!

    1. I totally get you. It's matte and doesn't give shine but doesn't leave your face looking like rubber if you get me haha? Ooh enjoy your trip! xx
