Fitness | Mountain Climbing in the Brecon Beacons.

The selfie stick came in handy!
It's no secret that us Welsh folk are extremely proud of the beautiful country in which we live, and it's also no surprise that we're proud when you see just how stunning the landscape is. With steep mountains and rolling farmland ,to deep forests and beautiful shorelines, there is always something to do and last week Dan and I put on our trainers, hopped in his car and made our way to the Brecon Beacons National Park to climb Pen y Fan, the highest peak in the south of the UK.
The Brecon Beacons is owned and cared for by the National Trust
The journey to the top was rather tough. It was hot and our calves were burning, and as we neared the summit we were hit by huge winds which whipped around the side of the peak resulting in us rushing to put our coats on as our bags nearly flew away; but we powered through and made it to the top in under an hour, a time which we were rather impressed with!
Stunning views at the top of Pen y Fan
A view of the Brecon Beacons from the summit
There we were blown away (almost literally as it was rather windy!) by the absolutely stunning views. The mountains really are incredible and from there you can see a panoramic view of Wales, including the coast of Carmarthen Bay and the Gower Peninsula and most of Mid Wales and the South Wales Valleys.
We made it to the top - yay! : )
We picked a pretty good day to go as it was quite clear so we could see for miles and we obviously had to have a celebratory photograph at the height of the summit! We also had a little picnic at the to of the mountain which was really cute, before heading back down and exploring more of the Brecon Beacons.
Obligatory 'top of the mountain' photo!
Have you ever visited Wales?
Lots of love,
Jessie. xoxo
