November 2015 | All work, no play.

I love writing up these monthly round-up posts and looking back at everything I've been up to, but November for me can be pretty much summed up in four words - uni, gym, sleep, repeat. It kind of sucks to be at university and only 21 years old, yet I feel as if I'm a middle-aged woman with too many commitments. I was looking back at the month so far last weekend and decided from there that it's time to shake things up a bit. Yes, I have lots of work to do and I will continue to work extremely hard, but I need to make time in between to socialise and actually live!

1. Mini Mag Project

One of the reasons I've spent most of this month holed up in an underground room at university is because we are putting together our first design project of the year - our mini mags! Our group has come up with the idea of creating a zine based around Cardiff street art and it's been so fun to explore this scene and speak to the many interesting people in it. We've done various interviews with lots of street artists and graffiti store owners, as well as writing opinion pieces and speaking to the public on their thoughts on street art. It's been really exciting - albeit a lot of work - and I've really loved the whole design process. It's revoked that love of Photoshop and design that I found aged 13 when I used to make my Piczo websites (those were the days!). I'll be sure to post some pictures of it as soon as we have our final issue.

2. Days out with Dan

While it's been pretty hectic I've had some lush days out with Dan over the month including a random day exploring the Black Mountains in Wales and getting lost on a mountain surrounded by sheep! I've pretty much lived for these little times of peace in amongst all the chaos although they've been few and far between. I'm booked up in university all week and then Dan is working ridiculously long hours over the weekend. I'm looking forward to Christmas break to have more time to spend together.

3. Catch ups with friends

I also managed to squeeze in a catch up with my friends on one of the weekends I was home. We headed out for a meal and it was so nice to socialise and have some girly time! I haven't actually seen my school friends since I headed back to university in September but we're in the process of planning a Christmas meal so I'm really looking forward to that.

4. Exciting blog times

Another thing I feel I've been working hard on this month has been my blog. I've had some really exciting opportunities with Boohoo and the House of Fraser (click on the links to visit the posts!) and I also have some more exciting collabs coming up. I really miss blogging and being in the loop of the blogosphere and chatting to my fave bloggers. I'm so busy these days I barely have a chance to tweet let alone join in a chat - but being asked to do these incredible opportunities keeps me going!

5. Journalism social

Finally, after weeks of being cooped up indoors and doing nothing but watching reality television my housemate Jess and I headed out with other friends on our journalism course for drinks and boogying on Cardiff's St. Mary's Street. It was so overdue and great to actually get out and socialise. I even managed to be productive yesterday so it just goes to show that alcohol and uni work can somehow coincide. I'm determined to make the most of this year and to enjoy myself as much as possible.

What have you been up to this month?
Lots of love,
Jessie. xoxo
